"Understanding the difference between bitter beers and pale ales: past, present and future."
Beer writer Tim Webb will explain how two beer styles that began as one, first diverged and then grew wings, and where they may be headed now.
Six beers will be sampled to demonstrate the range of UK’s lighter coloured ales, from cooking bitter to the British take on Double IPA.

"Meet the Cider Makers."
This year we bring you a unique opportunity to meet not one, but two of our award winning makers of Real Cider, both from within our own CAMRA branch area. One you may know, Barny Butterfield from Sandford Orchards, the other you may not, Claire Daniels from Rull Orchard in the Exe Valley, Gold winner of this year’s “Breakthrough Cider Maker Awards".
You will (of course) enjoy tasting samples from each to illustrate their individual approaches to the art of cider making.
Cheese & crackers available between samples!
Introduced by our Branch Cider rep. Yvonne Nolan.
Saturday 17th January at 13:30. Tickets £15.
"Beer instead of Heineken - an illustrated history of the Dutch brewery revolution."
By 1980, Dutch brewing had reduced to three or four international brand lagers and a couple of stragglers.
Today, the country has over 600 breweries and one of the most vibrant beer scenes in Europe.
Six beers from independent Dutch breweries will show a few of the ways in which Belgium’s northern neighbour has learned to escape from its shadow. Beer writer Tim Webb will explain how that happened.
